RCE outraged by a petition created to pressure Israel

The Rabbinical Centre of Europe, representing 700 rabbis across the continent herby declare its concern with the wellbeing and safety of the people of Israel during these difficult times, as they face tremendous dangers from murderous terrorism and genocides threats from regimes abroad.

The people of Israel have a right to peace and security and should retain borders that will allow them to defend themselves from threatening enemies.

Those that call for pressure on Israel in this matter are in fact stabbing the Jewish state in the back. Statements blaming Israel for the lack of peace in the Middle East provide ammunition to anti-Semites.

Initiatives against Israel on this issue act against the people of Israel's existential rights and indirectly legitimize Jewish bloodshed. This attacks were until now promoted by those who want to continually excuse Arab refusal to continue direct peace talks. Unfortunately, we now witness some European Jews falling into this trap and propagandizing for the enemies of the People of Israel.

Peace is a supreme value in the Jewish tradition, but such initiatives actually make peace less obtainable by placing the blame and the demands on the wronged party and not where it should be.

With the rise of disgraceful anti-Semitism in Europe, we hope the signatories of such initiatives will spend more time defending the Jewish People rather than attacking it.
